Members Absent: Bo Aguilar, Rosemary Coffman, Donnetta Suchon
Meeting was called to order at 2:05 p.m.
- Approval of Minutes: Minutes from October 15, 2013 were approved as written.
- Old Business: New ITCC courses 1475, 1476, 2478, 2479 and discontinued ITCC courses 1401, 1404, 2408, 2410 proposed by Chuck Ganze were withdrawn.
- New Business:
- Joyce Jacobs proposed a new course EDUC 1200. A motion was made by Paul Arrigo and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried. After discussion, Joseph Ganakos made a motion to put EDUC 1200 in the core. Seconded by Karen Guthmiller. Motion carried.
- Evan Richards proposed adding a new course ENGR 2304 in the Pre-Engineering AA degree. A motion was made by Joyce Jacobs and seconded by Charlotte Mueller. Motion carried.
- Rod Hellyer proposed deleting MCHN 1343 and replacing with MCHN 1391. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
- Dr. David Jaroszewski proposed editing the text under the title for the Administrative Technology Program (see Curriculum Maintenance Request #187). David Jaroszewski proposed replacing the LGLA elective in the third semester with LGLA 1219. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Paul Arrigo. Motion carried.
- Dr. David Jaroszewski proposed discontinuing the AAS degree and Certificate of Completion in Law Enforcement. David Jaroszewski recommended discontinuing the certificates in Career Pilot, Instrument Pilot and Commercial Pilot in the Career Pilot Program. After discussion, David Jaroszewski elected to table the discontinuation of the Law Enforcement degree. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Joyce Jacobs. Motion carried.
- Charles Thomas recommended updating the Process Technology certificate from Level 1 to Level 2. Charles Thomas proposed adding ENGT 2310 and CTEC 2445 to the Process Technology certificate. Charles Thomas proposed adding TECM or Math Elective to the Process Technology AAS degree and Certificate of
Completion. A motion was made by Rod Hellyer and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried. - Charles Thomas recommended updating the Safety Management Certificate from Level 1 to Level 2. Charles Thomas proposed adding PTAC Elective and Technical Elective to the Safety Management Technology certificate. Charles Thomas proposed adding BMGT 1301 and BMGT 1307 to the Safety Management Technology AAS degree and Certificate of Completion. A motion was made by Stewart Edwards and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
- Charles Thomas proposed adding PTAC 1302 and SCIT 1318 to the Manufacturing Engineering Technology AAS degree. Charles Thomas proposed adding a new Level 2 Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering. A motion was made by Paul Arrigo and seconded by Vicky Hart. Motion carried.
- Tex Woodall presented for Jim Richardson. Tex Woodall proposed moving ELPT 2319 to the 2nd semester in the Electrical Technology certificate. Tex Woodall proposed moving ELPT Elective from 1st semester to 4th semester. A motion was made by Karen Guthmiller and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
- Tex Woodall proposed adding ITNW 1351, RBTC 1301, INTC 1307, IEIR 1302 and INTC 2359 to the Instrumentation Technology AAS degree and Certificate of Completion. Tex Woodall proposed deleting INTC 2380 from the Instrumentation Technology AAS degree. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
- Tex Woodall proposed adding new courses ELPT 2301 and ELPT 2355 to the Electrical Technology AAS degree and Certificate of Completion. A motion was made by Joyce Jacobs and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
- Tex Woodall proposed to discontinue courses CETT 1302, CETT 1325, CPMT 1303 and CPMT 1411 in the Instrumentation Technology AAS degree and Certificate of Completion. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Paul Arrigo. Motion carried.
- Tex Woodall proposed to discontinue ENGL 1301 in the Instrumentation Technology Program and replace it with BUSI 1304. A motion was made by Joyce Jacobs and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
- Tex Woodall proposed to discontinue INTC 2436. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Joyce Jacobs. Motion carried.
- Tex Woodall proposed new courses RBTC 1301, INTC 2359, IEIR 1302, INTC 1307 and ITNW 1351 to the Instrumentation Technology Program. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Joyce Jacobs. Motion carried.
- Howard Bushart presented for Marice Ivey. Howard Bushart proposed to discontinue HITT 1307. A motion was made by Karen Guthmiller and seconded by Paul Arrigo. Motion carried.
- Howard Bushart proposed changing the first semester heading in the Physical Therapist Assistant AAS degree from Prerequisites to First Semester. A motion was made by Karen Guthmiller and seconded by Vicky Hart. Motion carried. Discussion followed and Dr. Cathy Kemper made a recommendation to not publish the Physical Therapist Assistance degree in the 2014-2015 Catalog.
- Michael Gos presented for Gordon Lee. Michael Gos proposed all ENGL and HUMA courses add reading and writing intensive descriptors to the catalog description. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Charlotte Mueller. Motion carried.
- Michael Gos proposed changing the requisites for ENGL 1302 to read Prerequisite: ENGL 1301 (C or better). A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Paul Arrigo. After discussion, Michael Gos made a motion to amend the original motion to change the requisite to read Prerequisite: ENGL 1301 with a grade of P, C or better. Motion carried. The amended motion was approved.
- Michael Gos proposed updating the course description on ENGL 1302 to match the ACGM description. A motion was made by Joyce Jacobs and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
- David Rosen proposed a new course BIOL 2440 to the Biology AS degree. A motion was made by Paul Arrigo and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
- Odus Shoemake proposed a new AAS degree in Computer and Graphics Technology. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Joyce Jacobs. Motion carried.
- Odus Shoemake proposed new certificates in Application Specialization, Computer and Graphics Technology I and Computer and Graphics Technology II. A motion was made by Joyce Jacobs and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
- Odus Shoemake proposed changing the CIP code on the Game Design degree and certificate from 10.0304 to 11.0804. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Vicky Hart. Motion carried.
- Odus Shoemake proposed changing courses currently listed in the catalog from electives to specific courses in the Computer Technology Program; ITCC 2408 and ITCC 2410. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Joyce Jacobs. Motion carried.
- Odus Shoemake proposed changing the degree title of the Computer Maintenance Technology AAS degree to Computer and Network Maintenance Technology (AAS). A motion was made by Joyce Jacobs and seconded by Vicky Hart. Motion carried.
- Odus Shoemake proposed discontinuing the following degrees and certificates in the Computer Technology Program: E-Business Web Developer Specialist I (Certificate), E-Business Web Developer Specialist II (Certificate), E-Business Web Development (AAS), Computer Maintenance Technology (AAS), Digital Media (AAS), Digital Media I (Certificate), Digital Media II (Certificate), Personal Computer Support (AAS), Personal Computer Support (Certificate) and Personal Computer Support Specialist II (Certificate). A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
- Dana Byal proposed changing the requisite on DFTG 2428 from DFTG 1417 to DFTG 2419. A motion was made by Joyce Jacobs and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
- Dana Byal proposed discontinuing CNBT 2317 in the CADD and Engineering Program. A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
- Dana Byal proposed adding a new course DFTG 2430 to the CADD and Engineering Program. A motion was made by Rod Hellyer and seconded Karen Guthmiller. Motion carried.
- Dr. Jeff Thies proposed the following changes to the General Studies AA degree.
- First semester enrollment and completion of LSSS 300 or EDUC 1200 (0 or 2 SCH). Required if determined by college readiness in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics
- Add General Electives (4 6 SCH)
A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Karen Guthmiller. Motion carried.
- Dr. Jeff Thies proposed a new AA degree in Transfer in Allied Health Field. A motion was made by Stewart Edwards and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
- Tracy Allen proposed removing SPNL 1301 and ITSC 1309 from the AAS degree in Nursing (AD2) and Nursing Transition Entry (TN2). A motion was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Karen Guthmiller. Motion carried.
- Open Forum:
Joseph Ganakos continues to promote the Forensics Team and how well they have done this semester.
