Dr. Villanueva Recognized as a Community Leader of the Year by Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce
Dr. Lynda Villanueva, president of Lee College, was recognized as a 2023 Community Leader of the Year by the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce (GHWCC) at its annual conference for women on Friday, May 19, at The Westin Galleria Houston.
Dr. Villanueva, who has served in her leadership role at the institution since January 2020, was acknowledged for her dedication and support of women and girls — improving the quality of life for students and families.
She was among five recipients recognized — representing the greater Houston region. They include Dr. Brenda Hellyer, chancellor of San Jacinto College; Malisha Patel, SVP and CEO of Memorial Hermann Sugar Land & Memorial Hermann Southwest; Rhonda Trow, director, Community & Government Affairs, Howard Hughes Corporation and Kelly Whitley, vice president, Investor Relations & Communications, Murphy Oil Corporation. Dr. Villanueva was commended for her work in the Baytown area.
"What a privilege to be chosen by the Women's Chamber representing the Baytown community," Villanueva shared. "I'm absolutely humbled to receive this incredible honor alongside a group of powerful, strong women who are an inspiration to future business owners, industry leaders, and educators."
The Greater Houston Conference for Women is the premier women's business conference in the greater Houston region and serves as a vehicle to increase the visibility of our women leaders to a national and international audience.
